Mosser Glass - Revival Carnival Glass in the 1990s
G&S Thistlewood December 2023
This wonderful page is from Mosser Glass. It shows a wonderful selection of white Revival Carnival, including decorated items, in the 1990s.
The items are, top to bottom and left to right:
Dahlia pitcher and tumbler - 902P and 902T. These are not actually iridised, however Mosser did make these in their white Carnival too. The Dahlia pitcher was an old Dugan mould (see NetworK 75 for full Dahlia story). The Dahlia tumbler was a new mould made for L G Wright. Holly (*) creamer and sugar, iridised and decorated - 904CID and 904SID. Weaved Basket, iridised - 903I. Carnival collectors know it as Dugan-Diamond’s (*) Beaded Basket in old Classic Carnival. It was most likely a Diamond mould. Holly (*) creamer and sugar, iridised - 904CI and 904SI Holly (*) toothpick iridised - 904I - and decorated - 904D. Both actually appear to be iridised in the catalogue picture, however the Mosser key indicates only the undecorated version was Carnival. Right: a decorated Holly creamer and sugar in white Carnival.
The creamer is just under 5 inches high. Courtesy of Burns Auctions. |
* Holly is also known as Beaded Ovals and Holly. It is thought that the original moulds for this pattern were Dugan's Erie line (also known as Beaded Ovals and Sand). At some point the moulded holly motif was added to replace the decorated, enamelled floral designs. On the right is an extract from the February 1907 Butler Brothers wholesale catalogue showing the decorated Erie line (offered in blue and green crystal - not iridised). |
