L. E. Smith Glass Co. - Revival Cobalt Blue Carnival, 1986-87

Courtesy of Glass Paper Fanatics

In the mid-1980s, Smith purchased numerous Imperial moulds after that company closed. In Smith’s 1986-7 catalogue we see a wide array of former Imperial pieces being produced in Carnival (mainly red and cobalt blue, but also some white). Here is the cobalt blue selection.

Many of these pieces are familiar patterns, and we are sure you will be able to spot them. Two pieces are less familiar - numbers 1331C and 212C.

Here are the pieces shown above:
239C - Windmill pitcher
385C - Scroll Embossed basket (with applied handle)
1331C - this was quite a puzzle to unravel, a covered candy jar. The pattern is known as Saddle. 1331C. Imperial's original catalogue number was 133.
434C - Diamond Lace basket (with applied handle)
514C - Windmill tumbler
402C - Fashion toothpick holder
212C - Diamond with Fans handled nappy, aka Thonged Star. Imperial made this pattern (as a comport) in crystal in their early NUCUT range, and later in Revival Carnival from the 1960s. Here it is from Smith as a blue Carnival two handled nappy (with the same number, 212, originally used by Imperial)
1581C - Windmill oval relish
390C - Windmill bowl
7001C - Lustre Rose bowl
478C - Pansy one-handled nappy.
