Waterlily and Cattails - Northwood

Fenton more or less cornered the market with their Waterlily and Cattails pattern, as it was one of their early designs used in Carnival Glass.

Harry Northwood must have taken a shine to the pattern, and (in the days when everyone seemed to copy everyone else) decided to do his own version of the design in a water set.

Fortunately for collectors, Harry’s version is marked with the distinctive Northwood " N " in a circle on the inside of the base.

This splendid tumbler is blue, which makes it exceptionally rare, and it was purchased by Bob from the Carnival auction of the late (and much missed) Cecile Whitley.

An intriguing feature of this particular tumbler is that the name "E. Robbins 1914" is etched around the top of the rim.

A rare tumbler with a unique inscription!
