Little Segment, aka Gominho, made by Esberard, Rio (South America).
Claudio reports two shapes in marigold, as shown above:
Lidded comport and underplate (3 pieces): 21.5cm high (including lid) and 13.5cm in diameter (approximately 8.5 x 5.25 inches). The underplate is 17cm in diameter (approximately 6.75 inches).
Stemmed open comport: 10.5cm high and 17cm in diameter (approximately 4 x 6.75 inches)
The pattern was surely inspired by the many bay or laurel leaf designs that were popular in the early 1900s. for example, the 1907 St Louis catalogue shown below features a design that is very similar to the Little Segment design.

There is also a remarkable resemblance - shown below - between Little Segment and the Riihimaki pattern known to Carnival collectors as "Laurel Band" (which was originally called Kara by Riihimaki). Finnish glass researcher, Roger Peltonen, reports that the mould for this pattern was with Riihimaki after 1921. |
