Janovals, probably made by Sowerby

In 2001, our original Carnival Glass NetworK journal (Issue number 31) featured a discovery and a pattern naming!

Janet Dickson had discovered "a small, handled bonbon dish in marigold". We felt it might be a Sowerby piece, as the shape was similar to other Sowerby handled bonbons, but we were unable to find the exact shape of Janet's item in our Sowerby catalogues.

What we did find, however, was what appears to be the same pattern, but in a different shape - a covered sugar was shown in Sowerby's 1907 catalogue with the pattern number 2296. See above, right.

Janet named the pattern Janovals!
