Fenton Shell Pink Carnival Glass

Another new 1980s colour from Fenton was their Shell Pink Carnival, introduced in 1988-89.

It was  described as "soft opal glass with a pearl finish" - items were given the colour code "PE" to denote the Shell Pink Carnival colour. The "Hearts and Flowers" reference in the ad shown below (in the #0350 Assortment) refers to a hand-painted decoration (of hearts and flowers, naturally) that was being applied to their opalescent lines. A variation of Shell Pink, introduced in the early 1990s, was called "Pearly Sentiments" (colour code PT) - it was Shell Pink with the addition of applied porcelain roses.

The catalogue page is shown here courtesy of the late Frank Fenton who gave us this beautiful extract during the time we were researching in the Fenton archives at Williamstown.
