This pattern appeared in crystal (clear) glass in the 1914 Portieux catalogue with the name of Chimères ("Quimera" in Portuguese) - chimera in English - after the mythological hybrid monster. The pieces have the word "PORTIEUX" moulded in the base.
However, the same pattern is found in Carnival Glass in Brazil, where it is generally known to collectors as Dragon. Although it has been attributed to Portieux and is sometimes called the "Dragon of Portieux", now, thanks to Cláudio, the Carnival Glass items have been definitely confirmed as being made by Esberard. Cláudio has found this oval bowl with "ESBERARD RIO" moulded in the base (instead of "PORTIEUX").
